The Mortgage Relief for Disaster Survivors Act would pause interest and penalties for six months, with possible extensions. Sen. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) and Sen. Michael Bennet (D-Colo.) co-sponsored the bill, citing recent devastating fires in their states and the growing impact of climate change.
