"Click-to-cancel” rule to simplify cancellations gets blocked
A federal appeals court has blocked the FTC’s new “click-to-cancel” rule—meant to make ending subscriptions as easy as signing up—just days before it was to take effect. The court found the FTC skipped a required regulatory analysis since the rule’s economic impact could exceed $100 million. Part of Biden’s “Time is Money” initiative, the rule also required clear disclosure of trial end dates and customer consent before auto-renewals. The FTC declined to comment, while it continues separate legal action against Amazon over Prime cancellations.

A recent survey of 2,000 Americans found that about one in three people has given their car a nickname, with creative picks like Buttercup’s Folly, The Slug, and Old Flame. Gen Xers and millennials are the most likely to name their cars — over 40% of each do — while boomers are less inclined, with only 31% saying they’ve named theirs.
