A fifth of U.S. adults now regularly get news on TikTok, up from just 3% in 2020, making it the fastest-growing social media source for news, according to Pew Research Center.
The platform, known for short-form videos, is especially popular among younger users: 43% of adults under 30 and 25% of those 30–49 now regularly get news there, compared with 9% and 2% in 2020. Among adult TikTok users specifically, 55% say they regularly consume news on the platform, putting it on par with X, Facebook, and Truth Social.
