No Mow May
No Mow May encourages skipping lawn mowing in spring to support pollinators and conserve water. The movement has grown to include “Let It Bloom June” and “Leave the Leaves” in fall, promoting year-round eco-friendly lawn care. Advocates say reducing mowing and allowing native plants to grow can save water and improve ecosystems. American lawns, based on English and French traditions, are increasingly seen as a wasteful monoculture that encourages an overuse of pesticides, fertilizer and water. Critics, however, argue that short-term efforts may do little and risk spreading invasive species.
