Weight is Number One Thing Lied About on Dating Profile, Tellwut Online Poll Finds

An online survey by Tellwut found that weight is the number one thing that Tellwutters lied about on their dating profile. It was also the top thing that people they had talked to on dating sites lied about as well. After a Yahoo article detailed the top 10 things people lie about on their dating profiles, we wanted to know what Tellwutters have lied about on their own dating profiles. 29% of Tellwutters have used an online dating site and of that, 29% have lied about their weight. The second most lied about characteristics is age with 23% lying about this while 18% of Tellwutters lied about their physique. Other things people lied about on their profile include job or job title, interests, lifestyle and knowing a celebrity. We also wanted to know if anyone had met someone from an online dating site and if this date had lied about their profile. 36% of Tellwutters said they met someone from an online dating site who had lied about their physical appearance, 31% were lucky not to have been lied to and 27% said they had met someone who had lied about being single. Other things people have lied about to Tellwutters include income, job, number of kids, interests and sex life. Research shows that the top three things women lie about are weight, physical build and age while men lie about age, height and income. One Tellwutter comments “I met my now fiancé on FB. I actually lied about my age initially because I thought he wouldn’t date someone as young as me.” Do dating websites work? Not according to Tellwutters! 85% of those who had used a dating site are not currently with someone from a site. In another recent online Tellwut survey, 58% of voters said they would not recommend online dating and 46% said they do not think online dating is safe. 58% of voters think you cannot trust people from an online dating site to be truthful. In another Tellwut survey about the different types of dating sites, 37% of people who tried online dating said their experience was that everybody lies while 34% think it’s a great way to browse for a match. Tellwutters believe that Plenty of Fish and EHarmony are the two best dating websites. What do you think about online dating? Is it too risky or do you think you could find someone worthwhile?
