Results: Lady Gaga and Sonja Durham

While I was researching the pop song "G.U.Y." by Lady Gaga, I found the spoken word intro was not Gaga's voice but that of her good friend and managing director, Sonja Durham. Have you ever heard the song "G.U.Y.?"

Gaga and Durham's friendship lasted many years. In 2016, it was revealed that Sonja had stage 4 breast cancer. Have you ever been diagnosed with breast cancer or know of someone who has?

By 2017 Sonja's cancer worsened, spreading to her brain and lungs. In May of that year, she lost her battle. Gaga wrote "I vow to be a little stronger everyday for her because that's what she would have wanted, I vow to be stronger for anyone who's lost somebody to cancer. I'm a part of that family now." Given Gaga's definition, do you consider yourself part of the 'cancer family?'

Her song "Grigio Girls" was written with Sonja in mind. Gaga is quoted as saying it's about "womanhood and sticking together and encouraging one another and teaching each other that it's okay to cry together."
