For several months now in the town where I reside, gas buyers have had to pay in advance for however much gas they want to pump into their vehicles (or, if one's responsible for mowing lawns or doing any other kind of motorized landscaping, gas cans). Is this the case where you purchase gas?
Yes, in at last one of the municipalities where I buy gas.

I've been told by employees at a couple of the gas stations I patronize in my town that the reason for the pay-before-pumping policy is the surge people driving from the pump from which they dispensed their gas before paying it since January 2021. Whether you currently drive a gas-powered vehicle or fill a gas can regularly, have you ever witnessed someone driving away from a gas fuel pump before paying for for his/her purchase?
Yes

I've not knowingly witnessed it, but I've heard/read of people I know/am acquainted with who've done so.

Among my multiple troubles/dissatisfactions with paying before pumping is figuring out how much fuel I need to fill my tank without paying for more than I need. Would you rather pay before or after pumping fuel (and feel free to comment on whatever you like or dislike about either policy or both of them)?
