I ask about the population of where you live because it seems, in my experience, that what I'm going to be asking about in my other questions in this survey are shows on radio stations in municipalities of under 100, 000 in population, maybe 50,000. If you live in a city of 50,000 or fewer, do you regularly listen to a local radio station serving your home town?

Every Sarurday on the radio station--two, really, as there's an FM signal that simulcasts what the AM statin broadcasts (or vice versa?)--serving the town where I live of under 15, 000, there's a show where coupons for products & services from area businesses, some offering discounts of over 50%, are offered. Listeners call in to claim one or more of the coupons as they remain available; it's then on then to get to to the station's office to purchase the coupon they claimed on live radio for all wthin earshot...available to hear online so, that could be anyone anywhere with internet... to hear. Have you ever participated in such a program as a buyer, seller and/or radio station personnel?
Yes, I've partcipated in a show ilke that in a show like that in at least one of the above-mentioned capacities.

Another radio station in what's probably the closest "shopping city" to mine, with a population of under 20, 000, airs a want ads show ever day but Sunday. Listeners call in and tell the host what they want to give away or sell, and the price they're asking for what the want to unload...AND the telephone number by which potential customers may reach them. Even for listeners who've no intention of selling of buying anything, it can be fun listening that gives a glimpse of small town life. My great concern with the show's format is that sellers announcing their digits for all to hear could receive prank and harassing calls from smart alecks, or worse, who mean to do no business with the people "posting" the ads. But, since the show has been on this station for many years, would you agree with me that this speaks of a level of trust and respect among small town folk that m a y not be as common among people living in bigger cities?

In a world increasingly reliant on the impersonal intenet for commerce, I'm heartened by the continued existence of radio coupon and want ad shows--and my town and another near me can't be the only places with radio stations offering them!, yes?--for more personally interactive ways to conduct business for some items and services. How about you?
Yes, I find those shows' continued existence heartening, too.
