Worst Boss Ever
  • His name is Francis he was the manager at the hotel I worked for and seriously the worst boss ever
  • I had a boss that caused me bleeding ulcers because of the stress and non-stop yelling and threats when I was only 16 years old.
  • More so a pain in the ... Boss
  • I have had some good and some bad but if they cant be changed I quit
  • My place of work is so bad it might make an entertaining netflix show.
  • Yep, she embezzled from the company and the company eventually closed because it discovered others embezzling at other branches. She also dated/married the branch mechanic & approved work that was never done AND the Safety Director warned 'NO SMOKING IN ANY OF THE TERMINALS." Guess that the branch manager thought it didn't apply to her.
  • Was a total# Scrooge hiding behind religious hippocrasy etc. No overtime, no bonuses, long hours
  • If you improved a system she set up she would come out of the office and scream at you infront of other employees and then a few days later call you into the office to ask you to rewrite the manual and show others how to do it
  • A hateful man, who drank on the job, cheated on his wife, would call me at home in the evening or weekends, to come into the office, etc. etc...

  • If you haven't had a bad boss, you haven't worked a day in your life.
  • I worked in a truck stop and the manager hired his daughter to work with us. She was the most worthless waitress, would sit all the time, yet her Daddy thought she walked on water. I quit and he was out of someone that cooked, waited tables and would do dishes. The place went downhill after that.

  • I had a boss that was a compulsive liar. Think Donald Trump on Steroids. Nothing was too big or too small that she couldn't lie about it. If she told me the sky was blue, I would have to run outside to see what color it had turned, because believe me, it would not be blue.
  • I worked in a flower shop that was owned by an older couple when I was 15. The husband touched me inappropriately, so I quit, but I told my parents I was fired. I was too embarrassed & humiliated to tell them what had happened. To make things worse, I was caught in my lie. The wife called while I was at school to ask my mom to have me come back to work. The lady said she was sorry that her husband's behavior had offended me, but that I had obviously been overprotected and needed to be exposed to how men treated girls in the 'real world' if I were going to survive. It was the 80s and unfortunately sexual harassment was not uncommon. My mom had talked to me about it, but I didn't know it happened to kids. My mom told informed the wife that if she chose to stay with a man that groped women and children, that was her business, but that I would not be returning to work. By the time I got home from school, my mom had called my dad to come home early from work (which she'd never done before). He was waiting for me. I got in big trouble for not telling them about the incident. Then, dad spent over 2 hours teaching my younger sister and I how to hit a person's face in such a way as to shove the nose back into the brain, knee a man in the groin, carry our car keys in a manner that could be used to gouge eyeballs, stomp on a foot when wearing high heels, open a car door with enough power to knock someone over, etc. We were also given cans of mace and instructed to start carrying them in my purse. My poor sister didn't know what was going on. That boss got me in a lot of trouble with my folks, but I guess I owe him one. As a result of his behavior, my dad taught me to defend myself. I've had to use that knowledge 3 times in my life (although not at work). My mom spent supper time and the rest of the evening lecturing me on the importance of telling them things, protecting others by speaking up, victims shouldn't be the ones that are ashamed, etc.
  • i looked up to her, but she made me feel small, gave me bad advice and took credit for my work

  • Once had a boss (who was actually a friend of mine otherwise) who interrupted me every 5 minutes (or less) to ask "How are things coming?" on a project. I couldn't get ANYTHING done! Finally I spoke up to say "Oh...just about as well as they were 5 minutes ago when you last asked." He turned around, went back into his office, closed the door--and I was able to finish the project :)
  • Her name was Margerite, she owned the restaurant and she hired me as the steak chef. She was passive aggressive all the time. I never knew if she would be nice or mean. She was so mean sometimes it was intolerable. One day I came in and she smiled and said, you are fired. I asked her why and she said because you are, but wait until after your shift. I said F you and left right then.
  • always grumpy and complaining
  • I work in the grocery industry. Many years back we had a store manager who either hid in his office, which we preferred, or he would be out on the floor acting like a chaotic manic yelling at everybody, including customers. Blessedly he did not last long at our store!
  • No leadership skills

  • Arrogant little know it all with a major Napoleonic syndrome, to say nothing of ageism and sexism.
  • I had a boss that put me danger. I had a preschool class and they where napping one day. My supervisor come in running and yelling to get the kids out fast. I was why and the first thing that I thought we are on fire. So I did my job like I was training to do. Taking care of all the kids make sure everyone safe. Afterwards I looked back no fire no real emergency. The only thing that was a emergency for them was no class was aloud to be in that building. They had some guy from the county with the police. He had to take pictures of the building being boarded up and not in use. They would not let him in that was all the fuss. I was so freaking mad that I was never told this from the beginning. Putting kids in danger and my self. And after talking to the owner th
  • Not really a boss but my supervisor - stupid woman complained about my accent. I was born In Brooklyn and live in Vancouver BC. I worked at a company that sold wholesale packages to travel agents. My sup said I sounded "rude" because my Brooklyn accent would come out sometimes. I was told to "lose the accent or lose your job"..I listened to tapes and tried to lose it a bit....when I visited relatives in NY of course it was back pretty much as soon as I spent an hour there...when I got back the "dialect police" said to me she hoped I was going to lose it soon. Well, when I finally left I told her in a beautiful Brooklyn accent pretty much where to shove it!
  • The worst boss I ever had was at Bell Telephone Laboratories. I was straight out of college and wanted to be successful. Why was he the worst. I met him for about five minutes when it was announced that I would be in his group. That was it for about four or five months. I would drop off my weekly time card on his desk and he would never be there. Finally after that length of time I found him in his office! He said we should sit down and talk sometime about how the job was going. it never happened and finally there was a reorganization and it was put in another group. in the next year I moved on to IBM.
  • I had a boss that tried to get me to illegally do a years worth of work ahead of time and two months before I was slated to retire. I was unable to get the leases copies as no one had rented out that far in advance. She chased me around like a crazed gorilla through three offices. I left a month early with pay and got my stuff mailed to me. She was bi polar, not medicated, and later was fired for stealing.
  • The boss I have now. She thinks she is the center of this universe. She has to have power over us peons. Whenever I put in for vacation, she has a reason for me not to take it, insane reasons. E.G: I don't want to work with the other girl alone when you are gone, she drives me crazy. Vacation denied. We both need to be here on the 1 day, so you can only take the 6 days I requested, but the 7th day was denied, which was the day we planned on starting our road trip. Vacation day denied. I had to go for an ultrasound follow-up which didn't happen due to COVID, we were working from home and all I did was ask her to switch with me to work from the office that day. DENIED. She has to let everyone know she has authority over us all.
  • All the female bosses I've ever had just wanted to #### me! Everyone is a whore now and there proud of it, there's no shame about anything now.

  • My Boss 1999-2002
  • Yes I had a very unhinged boss when I was doing a work program at my high school for school credit. She was having some problems at home and with a co worker and made it almost impossible for me and the other work program people to do anything. She would be okay then be really rude for no apparent reason. We had to stay for the credit but we did complain to our teacher and the principal. After six weeks, we were able to transfer to a different work location. But she was technically my first boss and I was really looking forward to working in a field that I thought I would be doing forever, after that when I attended college, I made a "career" change into education, which to me was a safer choice than business.
  • Annette. She was a district mgr for a large retailer. As the personnel mgr I was touring the store with a new hire. Annette walked in and started cussing at my new hire because she could not answer a question. This happened in front of customers and other associates. I called the ethics hot line about her. I was fired within two days.

  • I worked in upstate NY for a company that made curtains for the hotels there. The boss was so unreasonable I only worked 3 days and left
  • I was the boss and in my humble opinion i was great LOL
  • My old boss was nasty. Mean treated people like crap. We were called names like morons and idiots on a daily basis.
  • VP ... would always degrade people in front of other people. Made you feel like you were an inch high. Scary & mean.
  • He would talk to the girls in a way that made them cry and put them down. He tried it on me once but I didn't let him get away with it. He was married 3 times and verbally and physically abused last wife.
  • one who said I would never get a promotion or raise unless I slept with him.
  • I have had many, MANY jobs in my life, over several different careers, but I would have to say the worst one was a middle school principal. He did not pronounce my two syllable name correctly, got on the morning announcements and mispronounced students names when recognizing them, much to the laughter of the class, did absolutely no disciplining, and disappeared for hours at a time to no one knew where in the school. He was basically a cheerleader for the school and did not lead or direct teachers in any positive way. I left this school after one year, as I did not want to work for such as idiot. However, coming in a close second to this waste of a leader was another principal who in a TWO HOUR meeting with parents, a student and four of the student's teachers, pretty much threw the other 3 teachers under the bus. As the parents attacked these teachers about some policies and decisions they had made, she sat there and said NOT ONE WORD in their defense or tried to help them out of this humiliating position. When after two of them left the meeting in tears, she asked them about me. Basically the father said, "Oh we have no problem with (my name). He works well with our son", I was forced to sit through the entire 2 hour meeting of humiliation and my part lasted less than 15 seconds. PS...I left this school after one year, as I was not going to work for a principal who did not stick up for her teachers.
  • Had several for different reasons.
  • She accused me of stealing, so I immediately got in contact with her boss and we straightened it out. My boss then ended up having to "compensate" ME and then I quit!
  • mm
  • A female boss so controlling I could not even send an email without her reviewing and approving it. Not to mention she committed fraud, and never got terminated she is still with the organization. She has a mental illness, I am sure of it.
  • Belittle women, a dictator, enjoyed to witness your failure and never acknowledged your success And to top it off, this person had a drinking problem and drank at work.
  • So many poor bosses. None of them were up to the job and most did not even try.
  • Brought family members into the business just to keep wages down on the real workers.
  • The worst boss I ever had was the one who hired her best friend. I noticed many terrible things her best friend did, brought it to her attention, but never did anything to change the situation. I would never work again for anyone who has the best friend working alongside them.
  • was lucky had good bosses
  • Quite a few actually, lol. One would scream at employees in front of guests at our restaurant.
  • N/A
  • Screamer and bully
  • Too many to count.
  • The one who locked me in the freezer "by accident", then "rescued" me after the shift was over, and everyone went home. After wrapping me in a blanket as he entered the freezer, and telling me how sorry he was for "accidently" locking the freezer (during work hours). He then led me to his office, where he offered me a drink ( to warm me up) I refused and started to leave. He locked me in and tried to grab me to hold me down on the desk, but I grabbed his paperweight and busted him in the head. Grabbed the keys out of his pocket, unlocked the door and left. I never went back. I could have ousted him but Karma got him in the end. About 6 months, later he was arrested and put in jail for stealing money from the company.
  • It was a woman and she stood over me while I worked most of the time and when I left for the day she went through my work and looked for mistakes, like typing, (periods and/or commas) and left me sticky notes on my desk when I arrived the next morning for work!!!!! She was a bully & a bitch!!!!!!!
  • The man bought the company I worked for. He had no clue how to run the business. His main concern was installing cameras so he could watch us work remotely. He barely showed up at the workplace. He was afraid of talking to our customers. He was an all-round bad person.
  • Sexual harassment.
  • my mom and i worked at the same place, though at two different locations and in two different programs, but my boss often talked bad about my mom to me, wanting her to retire, wanting to fire her, etc., etc. So not appropriate.
  • cussed me out in front of my co-workers. I walked out!
  • I had one who when there was complaints from parents due to her actions she tried to put the blame on me, had to get union involved to make her stop.
  • He micro managed, could not keep his lies straight when accusing me of things I did not do and had anger management issues!!!
  • not saying
  • All of them
  • one that steals all our money
  • I have been very fortunate in my bosses.
  • To many to count
  • too much pressure not enough praises
  • I had a mean boss when I worked at the newspapers. She was a pill head and only liked the people who had pills. She was really mean to people and we had people hired on a weekly bases and when she got a hold of them they left. She was eventually fired for her drug use.
  • No opinion
  • Still can't talk about it, although it was many years ago. Was bullied, until I called in my Union and would not go into her office until I had a representative with me, who also told that person that I could not be reprimanded so severely, and during my "lunch time" break. Also she told that person that if it happened again I would be forced to take a mental health day and to let the Union know. Luckily I took shorthand at school and was able to keep notes after most events... I stuck it out and eventually the bully left her position and went elsewhere as I was determined not to let myself leave my position because of her.
  • Came in late every morning and nothing you did was right and shouted all morning until lunch. Went to lunch came back a few hours later drunk and it started all over again. Job was great boss was the boss from hell.
  • The worst boss I ever ad was the manager of a 'for profit' old folks home. She would get mad at one resident or another so would decide to change the whole dining room around just to upset said resident and in the process would confuse some of the other residents who had Alzheimer's. I worked in the kitchen and she would insist that we give the residents 1/2 of a weiner and celery for dinners occasionally and she would demand that us cooks refreeze fish. She condoned putting pickles back in the the pickle jar after they had been out on the table and I could go on and on. She eventually got fired after I quit.
  • one that did not keep permanent employees becasue the company would have to pay benefits and with temporary employees no benefit costs
  • I had a boss that came from a different area of the company so he did not understand much about our work. He allowed the older members of the team to bully the younger team members, refuse to work with anyone who was not white, ask for expensive work things that they did not need so that they could take them home to give to their children, go on vacation for a month at a time whenever they wanted to leave and give their work to the team members that they refused to work with, etc. It made for a horrible work environment and the boss just kept letting it go on. I quit, but my director found out, knew I was a hard worker and brought me in to ask me what was wrong. I told him and instead of letting me leave the company, he asked me if there was a different area I would like to go to. He allowed me to transfer! The new team was AMAZING!
  • I never had trouble with a boss. It was their secretaries!!! Paper work and more paper work demanded as if she was the queen of the world. This was a teaching job. I was a teacher, but somehow a clerk had all the power at the school. I think the principal was even intimidated by her. He called her "Miss Kitty." I kid you not.
  • I’ve had ones I didn’t like who certainly played favourites but I did have one who I felt was intimidating. I remember when I had to head a meeting I was so nervous I lost my train of thought started shaking and made a real mess of it while he just watched.
  • As a young 18 year old I took a job at a small Tire Dealership in my little town. I had 2 days of training before the only other office employee went on holiday's. I did the morning invoice/banking input and came up with a surplus of $180. I could not figure out where this extra money came from. The owner yelled & berated me in front of customers.. I was extremely upset and wanted to quit but my mom wouldn't let me. The next day the service manager told me he had taken a $180 payment & forgot to write out a receipt. When I went to my boss & tried to explain he again berated & yelled at me.. it felt SOOOO GREAT yelling & berating him in front of his customers about what a horrible boss & human being he was.. as I walked out the door. Only job I ever quit or left on bad terms.

  • She was a two-faced dictator, liar and a bully.
  • The lady I worked with went on vacation and I did all her work and mine while she was away. Two week later I went on vacation. She never did any of my work. When I went to the boss he said it is your work why should she do it. I quite on the spot. So in the end she had to do my work and was a week behind.
  • It is interesting
  • Was a thief. She lied and used her non-profit business to fraudulently bill Medicaid to get rich. She then fired me when I reported her for unethical practices. I sued and won.
  • One obviously hired to clean out old staffers, enjoyed bringing staff members to tears. Gone are the days of lead by example and influence

  • my boss good boss
  • I worked on a trading desk on Wall Street and this boss would call us the most horrible names ever. One day, I had had it and didn't care if I lost the job but I went back at him so bad that he asked me to come into his office and we discussed it more peacefully and then I got the largest raise I had ever gotten from him. The money was not important to me but I really felt good telling him exactly what I thought of him. But I had a husband supporting me , so I didn't care if I lost the job. Some people don't have that luxury..
  • I had a boss who always took credit for my ideas and work but never backed me up if I made a mistake.
  • Called me stupid because I asked a question.
  • N
  • my worst boss was John "draw me a picture" kyte. . .he could not picture anything unless you drew him a picture of what would happen if we followed his instructions.
  • It was actually in the military. I served in the US Army and was attached to a Brigade level organization while assigned to a different Battalion. The new Battalion Sergeant over our group came in, and instead of honoring the fact that the attachment organization is the one in charge of me while I'm attached to them, he wanted to take over and be my boss. On top of it, he was very arrogant and controlling, barking orders and just running rough shod over everyone. The full Colonel of the Brigade I was attached to finally had to step in and end it, and that was that. He had no choice but to leave me alone or face military trouble.
  • he was a complete ass, he treated his employees like garbage and loved when there were arguments among the girls. He undermined us at every turn. Worst boss ever
  • NO
  • he sent me out to a desolate place where our dump trucks were hauling mud and dirt and didn't tell me I would be there all day scraping mud patties off the road and it was a very hot day and I had no water or food and I nearly died in the heat.
  • Liar
  • fired me for not coming in after I called in sick
  • Yes. Today it would be called harassment, but in the 60's it was not. Each Friday evening after work, one of us from the office would be called upon to sit in the Boss's office and watch him rant and rave on about whatever he thought was important. Sometimes he would have a drink. Nothing bad happened, but you had to sit on the other side of desk and listen to him go on and on about whatever was on his mind at the time, business, life, friends, etc. Then that was that and you left his office about 20 minutes later and went home. It was a joke in the office. But, today, I see that was a type of harassment. I started taking Friday's off when it got close to my time or what I thought was close to my day to listen to the Boss!
  • los peores
  • IL M AS FAIT TRAVAILLER EN DEHORS DE L ENTREPRISE CHEZ LUI
  • When I was a very young single mother, it was quitting time and my married boss told me if I didn't have a drink with him I was fired. I had to get home and feed my kids and let the baby sitter go home. The next morning I went to work and was fired. I was sole support of my kids.
  • I am blessed most of my bosses thru out life were really nice and really helpful. There were a few that had issues with being a bit moody but you have to realize that is just them and not take it personally and sometimes they just maybe don't handle stress so well. For the most part though they all have been pretty good
  • na
  • Stealing from employees.
  • Yeah, I cried more in the short 9 months than I've ever cried in my entire career in the legal field. Loved the firm but my boss was a nightmare. I got another job and left.
  • They've all had their bad side, but nothing too terrible.
  • Would call in to the office to just scream and cuss me out. He also took credit for all the work I did, but then couldn't explain it in front of his clients.
  • He was a doctor who cheated on insurance billing. Awful doctor. Temps lasted less than a day. Longest employee 11 months in years. He was awful. If didn't work for other medical services never would have stayed in field.
  • I had a boss that complained because U wanted off while my mother was sick and dieing
  • I think I have been very lucky I’ve always had good bosses.
  • I was on maternity leave and the day after my c-section my boss asked me when I could come back to work. She proceeded to tell me after I said in 8 weeks, that I wouldn’t have a job to return to if I didn’t make it back in 6 weeks.
  • Funny thing is we ended up being really good friends even after I quit my job! lol
  • My boss had me arrested at the Veterans Administration & I had to sue the government for wrong doing, which I won the case that went as far as the supreme court, which I won a settlement. The case took almost 3 years. And I acted as my own attorney.
  • She had just lost her husband and i was a first year teacher, She wanted everything done the way that it was done 30 years ago and every time I did something the way my teacher or textbooks had told me, she kept track of the thing I did and got me kicked out of my job
  • The woman 'fired me' because she didn't like the fact I had thrown out 'bad' meat that was potentially harmful to the customers!!! She was absolutely awful!!!
  • made me feel uncomfortable and asked for favors but gave no credit where it was due
  • No
  • My first day on the new job and my boss became angry during a phone conversation with someone and proceeded to rip the drawers from his desk and fling them across the room. I walked out immediately and never went back.
  • Abusive, tyrant, over demanding, egoistic, no self control, zero compassion for others.
  • I was interim manager because I was the only employee that knew how to do the fired manager’s job. So they hire this lady that had never worked in our field before. Even sent her to classes to learn the systems. I noticed that she still didn’t seem to have a clue how to work our software. Then she began to ask me to run financial reports for her. Later I’d find those same reports on our owner’s desk, labeled up and initialed like she’s run them herself. So whenever she asked me to run a report I’d stamp every page of it with my personalized stamp. She stopped by and asked that I not stamp them. Okay, sure, no problem. I started dating and initialing each page. She asked me to stop so I did. Then I just started handing them directly to the owner. In his confusion he asked why I was bringing him the manager’s reports, and I (with a look of innocence) proclaimed that I just thought I’d save time and get it to him quicker this way. He finally realized that she’d been claiming my work as her own and went to her office and asked her to run a report for him. She said for him to go on about his way and she’d bring it to him. The owner told her no, that he needed it now and would wait in her office. She had to call for me from her office and ask me to run the reports right in front of the owner. The owner told me that wouldn’t be necessary and to go ahead and take an early lunch. She was gone/fired when I got back. Apparently she’d been trying to fake it til she made it in tons of areas. Our next manager hired was competent, knowledgeable, and a Dream to work with.
  • Don’t care about employees
  • Never really had a "worse" boss; however, I did have a job where we got no raise in 7 years; however, he bought an olympic swimming pool and 2 Trumph motorcycles. On the other hand, when there was a legal battle because of his divorce, and the accountant ran away, he walked away vs shutting the college down causing the entire staff to lose jobs!
  • I remember one boss that was very bad at managing the store. We were in the business of renting construction machines at a new location. He wanted top dollar for the rentals which was a lot more than our competitors. The store was doing so bad that he was fired. I took over until a new manager could be hired. I went to the various job sites and offered a free week rental for the first monthly rental then a 10% discount of the rest of the month. I did this just get in the door. After doing this with several job sites and numerous contractors the store began to show a profit. 3 months later a new manager was hired and I was asked to manage another store losing money while a new manager was found.
  • My worst boss was hired by the city to run restaurant services at our local, newly renovated arena/entertainment centre, on top of the restaurant he ran in town. He stiffed everyone employed by him when he realized he couldn’t handle either business, and ended up skipping town and closing his restaurant, leaving over a hundred of us and the city council in a lurch financially.

I even suffered a mild form of PTSD because of him.

  • never gave any feedback as to job performance, worked in and unsafe working environment, he did not care, told me the company was sacrificing 1 for the safety of others, said he tried to change that but was denied. • I got hurt at work and really needed to go to the doctor's to have myself checked out. My boss refused to report the incident, worker's comp, right, because it happened at work. I had a friend who worked at a hospital check it out and she suggested several things to do to get the injury healed up. About a week or so later we were told by the director everyone was going to get a raise and get our Christmas bonuses early. Good news, right. Wrong. 2 days later, I was told I was being let go. I was doing a good job for the company, but the newly created position the board of directors felt, wasn't needed any more. So I received my direct deposit for my last pay period and Christmas bonus on that friday. The following Monday, my former boss had "removed" my Christmas bonus from my bank account. my bank said there wasn't anything they could do about it.

This woman got stuck working as a staff nurse during a storm emergency.....she had no idea where to even start. Those of us who got to watch her implode enjoyed the snarky attitude she tried at first but then laughed out loud at her when she made error after error and brought them to her attention. We made sure that no patients were inconvenienced in any way but she cost the unit a nice chunk of money doing the wrong things. After that she was not as cocky and tried a lot harder to make sure we were better staffed.

She called me the next spring and had enough contracts in the works to need help. Same thing happened though. This time the reason given was the hit her bank balance had taken on a trip with her daughter. I thought like you can't plan far enough ahead to realize that was going to happen. • I had 2 girls take the work I had completed, changed it and then put it in the completed file. Of course, the next day it came back as wrong and the customer was very angry. I finally got to where I xeroxed my work after completing it. I showed it to my boss and Mr. Frost, the owner. I knew what 2 girls were doing it. They refused to listen to me. I came home crying every night. I was working another job in the day and this job at night. Finally he came up to me as I was clocking in that day and told me I was fired because he didn't want me making too much money. He knew I was widowed and had 3 girls to raise (that is why the 2 jobs). I was so relieved that he fired me as I could not put up much longer with him down my back all night and calling me names.
  • It is hard to figure out which boss to write about! I have had so many bad ones. But, I have had a few that were great, too. I think the worst boss I ever had was one who did everything she could to prevent me from doing my job and then, during staff meetings with about 30 people there, she would sit and talk loudly over everyone that was speaking. I used to wonder why her boss would just sit and tolerate it and not do anything. It did not take long for me to quit that position and find a much better one.
  • High-end retail store, sales associate. Quota to make and boss puts me in $10 items to sell. I switched schedule with a lady so she could get her sells up when store first opened. Once first sales persons got their sales and new associates came in, the new sales associate took over the sales. Not this day. I put badge on keyboard of timeclock. Clocked out, blew kiss to security camera person. Never went back, never answered their calls. Worst, miserable BS BOSS EVER!
