I'm curious about how people are saving for their retirements. Pension plans (which kind), depend on government benefits, private savings, etc. I'm getting on in years and this has become an interest of mine. I serve on two pension committees and I'm a little surprised at the lack of knowledge out there.
1. How close to retirement are you?
2. What savings vehicle have you used to save for retirement? Check all that apply.
Defined benefit pension plan.
Defined contribution pension plan.
Registered Retirement Savings Plan (Canadian) or IRA (American) or ?? (Europe, other countries etc)
None - I'll be depending on government benefits.
Private savings. Such as a portfolio of stocks and bonds, a secret Swiss bank account or a Tax Free Savings Account (Canadian).
A portfolio of rental properties.
3. Do you have adequate savings to retire on your preferred retirement date, whether that's at age 50, age 65, or age 73?
4. Do you find learning about money and finance is easy?
Yes, anything I want to know is out there. I just have to visit the library or Google it.
No, there's too much information out there.
I don't pay any attention to that stuff.
