Member Question: An acquaintance filed a police report against a sibling, accusing them of elder abuse. The sibling had POA rights for a parent (who was recovering from a stroke), and the sibling had supposedly been using the parent's account to pay for gas, meals, etc. The accused claims as POA, they were using the account to pay for fuel, food, etc. while doing things for the parent (taking care of the property, etc.). After the investigation, the sibling was ultimately charged with two counts of felony elder abuse - one was for using the money beyond the acceptable purposes. If you were on a jury in this case, would you find the defendant guilty of elder abuse?
