On April 8, 2024, a historic total solar eclipse will cast a shadow over parts of the U.S., Canada and Mexico, prompting a mass travel event to the path of totality. A total solar eclipse occurs when the moon passes between the sun and the Earth and, for a short time, completely blocks the face of the sun. The eclipse is expected to start at 2:04 p.m. and last for about two and a half hours. The sun will be fully eclipsed at approximately 3:20 to 3:23 p.m. EDT (Eastern Daylight Time). Are you planning to watch (with precautions) the eclipse?

There won't be another total solar eclipse visible from here until 2044. According to NASA, the best places to view this historic event, weather permitting, include these locations...are you located near or in any of these prime spots?

In the Niagara Region of Canada, which includes Niagara Falls, a state of emergency has been declared in the region as a precautionary measure ahead of an expected large influx of people coming to observe the total solar eclipse. Residents are being told to stock up on gas, water and schools will be closed. More than a million people are expected to flock to the border city, home to the iconic waterfall. It would be the largest single-day spike in tourists in the city's history. The expected large crowds will include scientists from the Canadian Space Agency and NASA. Would you consider travelling to see the eclipse?

If you plan to watch the total solar eclipse, consider playing "Total Eclipse of the Heart" during the event. Interestingly, the lengths of the song and the eclipse are almost identical. The radio edit of Bonnie Tyler's 1983 hit song clocks in at 4 minutes and 27 seconds. Meanwhile, near Torreón, Mexico, where the duration of the total eclipse on April 8th is the longest, the darkness will last for 4 minutes and 28 seconds. This coincidence means you could start the song as the eclipse begins and it would end almost exactly when the eclipse does. Are you planning on listening to this song while viewing the eclipse?
