I am not the only one who watches several clips of the same event before deciding (sometimes guessing) what actually happened. Sometimes the way the media reports something relies on the listener overlooking that politicians are alert to how the media spin what they say. Politicians have developed a way of speaking that is imprecise and subject to interpretation to give themselves an escape hatch to combat misrepresentation from the media. The recent Zelensky visit to the oval office is a classic example but there are others.

Here is an excerpt of the Zelensky oval office meeting. Zelensky, with arms folded and belligerent is talking over the advice and suggestions from the US president and vice president like a spoiled teenager. The media presents this as bullying rather than a reality check and trivializes it in a discussion of why Zelensky wasn't wearing a suit (a question from the media- not Trump). This new spin is media misrepresentation. (Here is a link to the full meeting for those interested https://youtu.be/7pxbGjvcdyY). Do you agree that Zelensky's was unappreciative of America's help and the media does not represent America's position in this war?

Many TW members made up their mind about the January 6th 2021 incidents from media reports of what Trump said and the aftermath of what happened. What Trump actually said was quite different. I am not saying Trump is an angel and we should all bow down before him but it is important for American democracy that the media reports what the President says accurately. Does this clip sound like an incitement to riot?

Much was made about the "relationship" between Trump and Stormy Daniels and how traumatic it supposedly was for her. Here is an interview she had on Jimmy Kimmel's show that suggests otherwise. (Here is another interview she gave https://www.youtube.com/shorts/ifwosQiTPd8?feature=share) Did you form a negative (or even more negative) opinion of Trump based on what she testified to under oath and the media reports of what she said in the New York trial?

In 1903, the Clarksburg Daily Telegram published a purposely fake news story in an effort to expose the Clarksburg Daily News who they knew were pilfering their articles. The story was about the shooting of "Mejk Swenekafew" near Columbia mines and predictably, it appeared the next day in the Daily News. The name of the victim "Swenekafew" spelled backwards, reads "We Fake News." (For more on the history of fake news I recommend : https://www.politico.com/magazine/story/2016/12/fake-news-history-long-violent-214535/) Will you now check more than one source before forming a negative opinion based on what the media says?
