A 15 second phone call. The difference between constant worry and relief. Only it lasts for just a short time. While the internet and phone blackout in Iran continues, without the world able to see what is taking place, thousands upon thousands of innocent protesters -- many under the age of 18 -- are being murdered. No one is able to call Iran, but a few manage to call out. That 15 second phone call, if you're lucky enough to get one, is just enough time for your family or friends to say "I'm OK...for now". There's always that unspoken "for now". My husband has received one of these calls, as have some of our friends. And while we feel relief, yes, it only lasts for a while. "For now" is all millions of Iranians can hold on to now, because no one knows what's next. Have you been following the news about what is happening in Iran?

As these brave woman and men are fighting for their freedom, and the internet blackout tries to silence their voices, those supporting their cause, all over the world have taken it upon themselves to flood social media with their cause. This is not a isolated incident or of little concern for us outside that country. You don't have to be an Iranian citizen or ally to understand the importance and significance of what's happening there. For 47 years the Iranian people have been living under a brutal Islamic rule, and appears that this is the breaking point. The Islamic regime has funded, organized and carried out terrorist attacks all over the world, and by ending this regime's rule, it could possibly bring about peace in that region for the first time in decades. Have you been active on social media supporting the Iranian people?

For the last two and a half years, my social media has been flooded with #Free Palestine and "from the river to the sea" chants, and while I feel sad for all the innocent lives lost (on both sides), I can't help wondering where are all the social media activists now...this is a women's rights cause, this is a LGBTQ cause, this is a freedom of expression cause, this is a human rights cause. 12,000 (probably much much more than that) have been murdered in the streets in the last few days. Where is the outrage from all the media outlets, the human rights organization, the universities -- all of which took to social media, the streets and campuses condemning what was happening in Gaza? All these brave Iranian citizens want is for us to speak while they are silenced. To amplify their stories, their messages, their fight, until they can be heard again. Thanks for allowing me this platform to vent, but my hope is that some of you will help amplify their message..."your silence speaks volumes about the person you are". Do you agree?
