Stephen Harper vowed to bring in a new law to crack down on Canadians travelling to areas of the world under the apparent control of terrorists. His promise to crack down on “terror tourism” if he is returned to power on Oct. 19 by making it a crime for Canadians to travel to “declared areas” that are under the sway of Islamist terrorists.
Though details of the proposed law are scarce, many discuss whether it would be legal and workable and whether it might unfairly target some segments of the population.
