Results: Liberals attack NDP Leader Thomas Mulcair for calling Toronto "Canada's most important city" (in Vancouver)
Published on 09/18/2015
Vancouver is the eighth largest municipality in Canada by population. Toronto is #1 on the list, followed by Montreal and Calgary.
If we're talking census metropolitan areas, Vancouver is third largest. Toronto is the biggest again, then Montreal.
Yet the federal Liberals want Vancouverites to get bent all out of shape because NDP Leader Thomas Mulcair referred to the Centre of the Universe as "Canada’s most important city".
Check out the following news release sent out today (September 14) by the Liberals:
VANCOUVER, BC – In one of the campaign’s most bizarre pitches for support, Thomas Mulcair boasted today to a Vancouver audience that Toronto is Canada’s most important city.
“We want to see Toronto, Canada’s most important city, get that bid.” – Thomas Mulcair, September 14, 2015 (Source: CKNW)
We all want to see Canada get the Olympics, but Mulcair’s comments left Vancouverites watching, wondering, if they even made second class.
“Mulcair has criss-crossed the country, saying one thing in one place, and contradicting himself in another. I guess he forgot which city he was in,” said Dr. Hedy Fry, Liberal candidate for Vancouver Centre.
