Results: New Theodore Roosevelt statue unveiling in Buffalo
Published on 10/30/2015
Tuesday was former U.S. President Theodore Roosevelt's 157th birthday, and to mark the occasion the Theodore Roosevelt Inaugural Site in Buffalo is unveiling a new statute.
The 7' 6" statue, based on a series of photos of Roosevelt that date back to 1903, will be on permanent display at the site.
The artist behind it says it took him about one year to build. "The one photo I based it upon he was giving a talk, or a speech," says Toby Mendez, "and I just liked the way the wind was catching his coat looking off in the distance it made me think that he was forward thinking and ready to head into the future."
The official unveiling of the statue takes place at 5:00 p.m. outside the Theodore Roosevelt Inaugural Site.
