“Mike & Molly” will end with a shortened sixth season, according to one of its regulars, Rondi Reed. In a Facebook post, Reed says the show will tape its final episode on Jan. 27. The season will run for 13 episodes, although CBS initially ordered 22 when it renewed the series in the spring. “The network has its reasons, and I will not get into a debate, discussion, or campaign to get them to change their minds,” writes Reed, who plays Mike’s (Billy Gardell) mom, Peggy. “Other venues were explored by [producer] WB and Bonanza Productions (Chuck Lorre) after CBS announced their intentions, but did not turn up a future for our show. It is a fact and we have known for a few weeks. I remain extremely grateful to have been a part of this and to have worked with a fabulous bunch of folks over the years.” Gardell tweeted earlier in December that the show would be in its final season, but the news managed to stay under the radar. Speculation about the show’s future has been circulating since CBS announced its winter schedule. “Mike & Molly” and “2 Broke Girls” will air at 8 p.m. ET/PT Wednesdays, but only for seven weeks in January and February when “Survivor” returns. The network hasn’t said when the remaining “Mike & Molly” episodes will air. CBS hasn’t commented on Reed’s post or Gardell’s tweet; this post will be updated if and when that happens.
