THE Glasgow hairdresser behind a glitter trend that was praised by Miley Cyrus told of the "surreal" moment the hair style went viral. Tabitha Love, a senior stylist and manager of Blow Finnieston, devised the trend of covering hair roots with glitter for a competition at her former salon in Aberdeen. The salon was looking for the next big thing - but unfortunately the 26-year-old, who lives in Govan, did not win the top prize. However, three years later Tabitha decided to resurrect the trend for a style campaign at Blow Finnieston. It quickly became an internet sensation when it was released last year - and was talked about by celebrities and bloggers. It was also included in Vogue, Teen Vogue and other high fashion magazines. The frenzy was intensified when global pop star Miley posted a picture of the Blow shoot on her Instagram page which is followed by nearly 35 million people. Tabitha said: "I loved the idea of quick party hair so I took a picture of the style I'd created to the salon. "Everyone thought we should do something with it. "I couldn't believe it when it started getting picked up everywhere. "Then my friend texted me to show that Miley Cyrus had shared it - it was surreal." The We Can't Stop singer began wearing glitter on the roots of her hair. The stylists at Blow, which is based in Argyle Street, use hair gel and glitter to paint on to hair. Tabitha said the trend is frequently requested by customers in the salon. She added: "It was strange at New Year to see girls with the style out and about. I just thought: 'I created that'. "I love working with Blow and to be given the chance to do styles like this." Salon owner Fallon Carberry was thrilled to see her salon receive global recognition fir the campaign. She said: “Having the likes of Miley Cyrus and Lime Crime sharing our images was amazing. How to hide your roots was everything the Blow girl is – fun, sassy and a little bit off beat.” Meanwhile, the salon is preparing to host a farewell to Glasgow designer duo Obscure Couture, who decided to wind up their fashion business after five years. Death By Glitter will celebrate one of Scotland’s most innovative design houses. Obscure Couture, which was run by Jenn Coyle and Lyndsay Pagan, found fans in Arianna Grande, Haim, Marina and The Diamonds and Little Mix, as well as becoming the go to design house for show stopping looks for award ceremonies. Blow will host to the farewell party on January 30 from 7pm. The well-loved Scottish fashion label announced their closure last July. There will be chance a to buy one off pieces at the event. Jenn said: "We highly doubt a label has had as much fun as we have had."
