Results: Tax-free money paying Trump's legal fees?

After reading the survey recently that told how the Republican National Committee ("RNC") has paid over 2 million dollars in Donald Trump's legal fees, I am still shaking my head at that one. However, I have moved on to wonder about the income tax ramifications, wondering if he is paying income taxes on this money. It is, after all, no different than if the RNC gave the money to Trump and he used it to pay his legal fees. Do you think Donald Trump should be paying income taxes on this money the RNC is paying on his behalf?

Theoretically, if Trump announces he is going to run for president in 2024, the "donations" from the RNC to pay for his legal fees will stop because the RNC can't appear to be favoring one candidate over another. Do you think this is possibly what is keeping Trump from announcing his candidacy?

The RNC is headed up by Trump's future daugher-in-law. Do you think she is advising him to hold off on his announcement?
