Canada will not accept new parent and grandparent sponsorship applications this year while it works through a backlog of about 60,500 cases. Processing times are currently around 33 months, or up to 66 months in Quebec. The government still plans to approve up to 15,000 people in both 2026 and 2027. Families can also continue using the temporary super visa program.
