Results: Texas Abortion Bill Blocked
A Texas abortion bill has been blocked with an 11 hour "filibuster" by Senator Wendy Davis being the cause. The legislation would have prohibited abortions after 20 weeks of pregnancy, regulated first-trimester abortion clinics as ambulatory surgical centers and restricted access to medication abortions. Had it passed, nearly all of the clinics in the state would have been shuttered. A filibuster happens when a debate is extended, allowing a delay or prevention of a vote. A person will speak for hours about related issues so people are unable to vote against the bill. Wendy Davis spoke for more than 10 hours (without food, water or a bathroom break) in a bid to pull down the voting window. Because of this, Republicans were unable to get enough votes for the bill.

Republican Governor Rick Perry states "In Texas, we value all life, and we've worked to cultivate a culture that supports the birth of every child". Many find this hypocritical as Texas still has the death penalty. What do you think? Hypocritical
