The Overton Window is an idea to describe the "window" of political subjects acceptable to talk about. One example of the Window is the shift of how we view social programs. Social program expansion was acceptable during the Great Depression because people identified more with the poor (thinking "There by the grace of God go I"). Social programs flourished, but the window shifted when Repbulicans reframed the wealthy and the American dream as those to identify with. Social programs fell outside the window's range because they were stigmatized. Have you heard of this theory? I have not heard of this concept or term before.

Where ideas fall in the window range from outside (unthinkable, radical) to inside (acceptable, correct, popular, and policy). Do you feel like this theory and spectrum are an accurate theory of how we view political ideas today? Yes, I think this is an accurate theory.

Education is the best means of shifting the window. The more people understand a topic, the more the window can shift. However, misinformation can also shift the window. Do you feel like the window has moved based on misinformation or genuine information in current events? I believe there is more information than disinformation.
