Researcher: Anaïs Fritzlan, BID Student, Algonquin College, supervised by Pallavi Swaranjali, Instructor, Algonquin College.

You are being asked to participate in a research study being carried out by Anaïs Fritzlan, 4th year Bachelor of Applied Arts Interior Design student at Algonquin College. Your participation involves completing and submitting the following survey, which should take about 5 minutes.

No identifying information will be collected, and the data submitted will not be linked to you. All questions are optional, however, the more answers you provide the more accurate the resulting data will be. At any point, you may withdraw by simply not submitting your answers. There will be no consequence to withdrawing.

Risks to you of completing the survey include potential minor psychological discomfort as a result of considering your work and financial situation and how it has been impacted by the pandemic. Benefits include having your needs and preferences included in the body of knowledge, as well as potentially prompting positive insights into your working habits and how to improve your work habits. Participants will not receive any financial benefit.

The researcher will be using the collected data for an academic project with very little chance of commercialization. The researcher is not being paid or in any way compensated for conducting this study or collecting the resulting data, beyond fulfilling an academic requirement of their Applied Research course.

This research has been approved by the Algonquin College Research Ethics Board, which can be contacted at (613) 727-4723 x 5213, or REBAdmin@algonquincollege.com to discuss ethical issues surrounding the project.

The information being collected involves your personal work status, habits, and preferences in regard to conducting your work at home or at an away-from-home location. Survey responses will be stored on a Canadian server, subject to Canadian privacy laws. Collated data will be stored in a password-protected folder on the researcher’s personal computer which is also password-protected. Graphs, charts, and tables interpreting the data will be included in the researcher’s research project submission to their course instructor and presented as part of the BID 2022 graduation show in April 2022. Original data will be destroyed in May 2022 by permanently deleting the online database and the local files on the researcher’s personal computer.

You are not being compensated for participation in this survey, monetarily or otherwise. The data collected will inform a spatial design proposition for the student researcher’s Senior Design Project. If you wish to access the completed project, you may do so after May 2022 by contacting the researcher at frit0019@algonquinlive.com.
