History
Few figures in U. S. history are as famous as the Founding Fathers, who were generals, writers, politicians, lawyers, and one dentist. While many know broad facts and myths about these founders, there are still surprising little-known stories. Here are seven facts about them. History Facts is my source for this series.

Paul Revere is known for his "Midnight Ride," where he warned Lexington residents about the British. However, he was also a dentist, and in 1770 he advertised his dental services in the Boston Gazette. Revere was the first person in the U. S. to use dental forensics. One of his patients was Joseph Warren, who informed Revere about the British approach. After Warren died at the Battle of Bunker Hill, Revere identified his body months later using the dental work he had done, marking the first known use of dental forensics in America. In the mid-1700's, Benjamin Franklin was inspired by a musical performance called singing glasses while in Europe. In 1761, he created an instrument called the "glass armonica" with a glassblower in London, using different glass bowl thicknesses to vary pitches. The glass armonica became popular, and famous composers like Mozart and Beethoven wrote music for it. However, by the 1820's, it was mostly forgotten as musicians reported dizziness and other issues, possibly from lead poisoning. Today, a few musicians still play the glass armonica. Had you ever heard of the glass armonica before this survey?
