History
There's actually a world record for just about everything. The folks at Guinness have been keeping track of both incredible and weird feats and facts for the entire world since 1955. You can literally spend an entire day searching through the Guinness website and along with your giggles and gasps at some of the craziness, you might also learn something. In this series we'll learn about 7 world records from Louisiana. KVKIfm is my source for this series.

Louisiana holds the Guinness World Record for the largest King Cake, which was baked by Haydel's Bakery in New Orleans on September 22, 2010. The colossal treat was made to encircle the Louisiana Superdome for charity. This monster cake, weighing over 4,073 pounds and measuring 2,643 feet long, completely circled the Superdome. Have you ever had a piece of King Cake?

The world record for the largest litter of hamsters belongs to a family from Louisiana. On February 28, 1974, a hamster owned by the Miller family gave birth to a massive litter of 26 baby hamsters. This event easily set the official Guinness World Records benchmark, as the average hamster litter size is typically only about 8 pups. Amazingly, over 50 years later, this Louisiana record has yet to be broken. Have you ever had a hamster as a pet?
