Delaware has a double whammy for its independence, celebrating both its independence from England and from Pennsylvania on June 15,1776! You see, one year after the Duke of York sold Wm. Penn deeds to the lower counties of Pennsylvania,(he already had title to the upper counties), and the 3 counties were under the jurisdiction of Pennsylvania, in 1704 they were allowed to elect their own legislature. So there were two colonial assemblies in what we now know as PA but with one governor. That mess was solved with the Declaration of Independence. Were you aware of any of that? I was not!
