Genealogy detectives have discovered that actor Benedict Cumberbatch is a distant relative to writer Sherlock Holmes. According to Ancestry.com the actor and author are 16th cousins, twice removed. Ironically, Cumberbatch played the character Holmes in the PBS television series.
