Published on 08/08/2025
In the late 1800's through the early 1900's, Madame Abomah had a 30-year career appearing in theatres, music halls, and sideshows around the world as a singer and 7 ft 6 inch "giantess." She was billed as a fearsome Amazon fighter from West Africa, but was actually born in the USA.

Showman Frank Bostock set up a tour for his faux Amazon warrior in the British Isles. He thought Ella Williams (Madame Abomah) would have greater success there because there was less racism in Europe; and Ella would not have to compete with Ella Ewing, a white woman who was actually taller, touring in the US as the "Missouri Giantess" (pictured here with her parents). Do you find it incredible that there were 2 giantesses touring at the same time named Ella?
