While touring with her act consisting of posing, performing feats of strength, and singing, Ella Williams, billed as Madame Abomah, traveled to England, Scotland, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, South America, France, Italy, Switzerland, Belgium, and Cuba. When performing nights at the London Music Hall, she supplemented her income working as a nanny during the day (and is pictured here with one of her charges.) During World War I, it was unsafe to be an American citizen abroad, so Ella returned to the US.
