On January 30, comedian and actress Catherine O'Hara died, from a pulmonary embolism, after a short private battle with rectal cancer. The actress was famous for her countless roles in TV or movies, most notably as the mother in Home Alone and the iconic Moira Rose is Schitt's Creek. Were you a fan of this talented woman?

Canadian O'Hara started off working as a waitress at The Second City, in Toronto, and then in coat check, but when cast member Gilda Radner left for "Saturday Night Live" in 1974, she filled her role. That led to her career as a core cast member of the Canadian sketch comedy show Second City Television (SCTV), where she collaborated with fellow Canadian comedians like Eugene Levy, John Candy, Martin Short and Rick Moranis. She made a name for herself with such memorable characters as Lola Heatherton and Dusty Towne. More importantly, this began her life-long friendships with Eugene Levy, who would appear in countless movies with her, and play her husband, Johnny Rose on Schitt's Creek. O'Hara appeared in many films, many of which were written and directed by Christopher Guest, such as Waiting For Guffman and Best In Show. She could play dramatic roles as well as comedic roles, which she proved in her last appearance, the 2025 HBO show, The Last Of Us. She provided her voice to a number of characters in beloved animated movies such as "Chicken Little" (2005) "Over the Hedge" (2006) and "Frankenweenie" (2012). She was both a team player and a scene stealer, a physical performer (that Beetlejuice dance!) and someone who knew her way around a witty line. And in one of her most iconic roles, as Moira Rose, she created a loveable, funny, off-beat and relatable character with some of the best lines ever uttered.
