Philippe Le Miere is a contemporary Australian artist who feels as much as art inspires movies, then so should movies inspire art. He takes inspiration from popular movies, and using a palette knife, rather than a paintbrush, creates abstract art that both pays homage to and creates questions about the subjects. The subjects in his series, Block Buster are at once familiar characters, and yet upon closer inspection, they are transformed and distorted in a way that makes us think. This one features The Wizard Of Oz. The next one is Spider-Man. Do you like abstract art like this?

Turkish artist Murat Palta did an unusual thing for his senior graduation project: He created a portfolio of paintings in the style of 16th century Ottoman miniature art illustrations. Now the 29 year old has lost count of how many of these pieces he has painted over the years, but his art is based on a simple concept. His illustrations take iconic scenes from cult movies such as Inception, A Clockwork Orange, Alien, Star Wars, The Godfather, Scarface, The Shining, and Terminator 2: Judgment Day as their subjects. His art may seem simple at first, but there are a lot of smaller stories being told. This first one is based on Star Wars, and the next one is based on The Shining. Do you appreciate art like this?

If you go to art galleries or exhibits, sometimes seeing works of an artist can inspire you to try it yourself. Have you ever been inspired by an artist to try your hand at painting, photography, sculpting or something along these lines?
