Their bedrooms are just how they left them, but they never came back. 'All The Empty Rooms' is a 2025 documentary premiering on Netflix, on December 1, taking viewers inside the bedrooms of children killed in school shootings, seemingly frozen in time. CBS News correspondent Steve Hartman worked with photographer Lou Bopp for seven years to document the rooms left behind by children and then preserved by their parents. He said it was a personal mission. "I felt like the whole country was also growing numb, and I wanted to shake us out of that," Hartman said. "I feel like the nation owes it to the parents to feel some of the pain." Have you or will you watch this documentary?

As reporters, Hartman says they are parachuted into all manner of horrific situations and they cover it intensely, and then they leave. He decided to stay. Until the next all-too-soon tragedy. Hartman felt it was important to focus on the horror that never goes away, the tremendous impact these shootings have on the ones left behind. It is not simply one horrible tragedy, and then life goes back to normal, until the next one. Do you feel we have grown "numb" to these kinds of tragedies?

The film premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in September, and when the film was finished, the theatre was silent. People filing out were in tears, and left with an incredible sadness and feeling of loss. Do you feel a film that affected so many so strongly should be required watching for those in government with the power to put laws into place to prevent this from becoming more common than it is already (which in my opinion, is already way, way too common in the U.S.)?
