Frankenstein (1931) - based on a novel by Mary Shelley. Concerns a guy who manages to bring to life a man by artificial means. Boris Karloff played the creature with Jack Pierce the make-up artist for the now iconic look. There are several differences from Shelley's original tale. Speaking of, ever read the novel?

Dracula - a novel by Bram Stoker. The 1931 version with Bela Lugosi is based on a stage play he was in before the film. He created the look of the character for stage, and years later his family got the rights from Universal for its use based on that. Where you aware Dracula had been a play before being filmed?

The Wolf Man - (1941) if you ever have nothing better to do, look up the ways legend claims it's possible to become a werewolf. Some are rather nutty such as drinking rainwater from a wolf print. The writers went back to Dracula on this one. Have to be bitten. Silver can harm or kill. The gypsy saying about wolfsbane made up. Lon Chaney Jr. played the title critter, son of the guy know as "The Man With a Thousand Faces". Jack Pierce again did the make-up. Ever dressed as a werewolf for Halloween?
