Maria- though never named on screen, she's generally called Maschinenmensch (machine human in German). From the silent 1927 film "Metropolis". Creator Rotwang is able to give her the outer look of Maria, spiritual leader of the underground workers. Would you find a robot with a human appearance creepy?
