The Pleasant View Lodge retirement home in Mayerthorpe, about 130 kilometres northwest of Edmonton, was rocking last Friday -- Canadian rock band Glass Tiger stopped by and performed for their oldest, and possibly biggest fan, 95 year old Jean Savage. She has been listening to Glass Tiger for more than 30 years, from the start of their career, when her grandson introduced her to the band. After staff let the band know about their big fan, they stopped in to meet her on their way to a show Friday evening. They were so carried away with her enthusiasm, the band felt they had no choice but to serenade her with a song. Do you think this was a great thing for the band to do?

I remember being a fan of Glass Tiger in the 80s, so was pleasantly surprised to learn that they are still performing and releasing new music. Their latest album, "Thirty Three," was released in May 2019, and except for a brief hiatus, the band has remained together, with most of the members the same for their entire career. Very few bands can say the same. How many of these bands that have had long careers (relatively intact and are still performing) are you a fan of?

With Rush up there with one of the longest careers in music, and Glass Tiger, Canada is well represented. These other Canadian bands have proved they have the staying power, perhaps not to the extent of Rush, but respectable careers . How many of these Canadian bands do you know?

A friend of mine has been the biggest fan of Iron Maiden since they first started their careers. Although she has long given up her heavy metal persona and become a real estate broker, she still loves them, and has seen them in concert probably more than 25 times. Is there a band or solo artist that you have been a fan with for their entire career, (and if so, please mention in the comments section)?
