"Song for a Winter's Night" is a song written by Gordon Lightfoot, and first recorded for his 1967 album, The Way I Feel. Lightfoot actually recorded two versions of the song; the second appears on the 1975 album Gord's Gold, a greatest hits compilation on which other re-recordings also appeared. Over the years I began buying sheet music for my father and influenced some of his choices. I really liked Gordon Lightfoot and this is one of the songs my father would play for me. "I've got my Love to keep me Warm" written by Irving Berlin for the 1937 US movie "On the Avenue," where it was introduced by Dick Powell & Alice Faye. Over the years it has been preformed by many, many singers. The Sheet Music for this very popular song is worn and brown with age. My father played this often in the winter months.
