It was just one of those things, when my parents shopped for new furniture. The Best was yet to come in a delivery truck in the very near future. It was a very good year when we had a brand new stereo cabinet which included two speakers and a turn table, it was a very nice piece of furniture. My mother positioned it under the living room window with a lamp on one corner. She also bought a brass rack for the LPs she began to collect. It made my mother very happy. My father really surprised her.

The classic song "Just One of Those Things" was composed and written by the legendary American songwriter Cole Porter, first introduced in his 1935 musical Jubilee. It's a well-known jazz standard known for its clever lyrics about love and heartbreak, often performed by artists like Frank Sinatra and Peggy Lee. This song is in my father's Cole Porter Songbook, the pages are well worn with little notes in the margin. He played this song often. Have you heard this song before?

"It Was a Very Good Year" was composed by Ervin Drake, who also wrote the lyrics; the song was famously performed and made iconic by Frank Sinatra in 1965, though it was first recorded by Bob Shane of The Kingston Trio in 1961. Sinatra's version from his album "September of My Years" won a Grammy for Best Male Vocal Performance, with Gordon Jenkins also earning a Grammy for his arrangement. I was in Grade 5 when this came out, it was hard to imagine all the years of the singers life. Have you heard this song before?
