The late David Bowie played a large role in shaping both Rock and Pop music history. Some think this a bit of a mixed blessing however as Bowie was the leading purveyor of 'Glam Rock', a movement which helped redirect the whole Rock genre down a vapid path which eventually led to a dead end as the music itself became secondary to presentation and pretension. Whichever way you stand, it cannot be denied that Bowie's influence touched generations of musicians from every stripe. He wrote and performed so many brilliant songs that unless you have very narrow musical tastes it is almost impossible to not have at least one song of his that you really like. The list could go on and on so it is mostly limited here to the more well-known of his works. Apologies for any glaring omissions.
