In the era of the 20th century when radio was at least so dominant a home entertaiment media as televsion is today, one of its most popular stars was ventriloqquist Edgar Bergen (father of actress Candice Bergen) and the dummies he used, Charlie McCarthy and Mortimer Snerd. Do you find it at all odd that an entertainer so reliant on visuals would become popular on a medium so devoid of visuals as radio?
