Prepare Ye The Way of the Lord - with music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz, Godspell is mainly based on the Gospel of Matthew. Much of it is acting out parables, with most the cast taking on various roles. This is the opening number with the actor playing John the Baptist, who'll later be Judas. Ever been baptized?

All For The Best - fun song that plays around with the "can't take it with you" notion and there's more to life than monetary wealth. This is from a 1973 film adaptation and to my knowledge, the first time the original World Trade Towers appeared in a movie. Musicals out of the question, did you ever get to visit, or possibly even worked there?

Alas For You - '73 movie version again. This is the bit Jesus takes on the "high players", lawyers and Pharisees. Like how this is done using cobbled together bits to make something menacing, but behind it all a sham. Godspell in general one of those shows that allows for a lot of interpretations, ad-lib. Have you ever seen a show much is up to the audience imagination or the way actors present the story?

Finale - Unlike JC Superstar, Godspell ends on a brighter note. Although not specifically presented, the resurrection is suggested by this song mentioning "Long live God" and a reprise of "Prepare Ye the Way of the Lord". End of this story, but not the saga so to speak. Most the vids in this survey come from the film version which I really like, once it gets going, the cast seem the only ones in New York. Ever been surrounded by people, but feel a bit out of place in some way?
