Results: Yes, But Have You Read The Book? (Part 2)

Many of us here have probably watched "Stranger Things", "The Witcher" and "Ozark", some of the most popular shows on Netflix to date. But, were you wondering if they were inspired by books? "Stranger Things" has been one of Netflix's biggest hits, and it has been renewed for its fourth season, in 2022. "Stranger Things" is not based on a book, but has inspired its own series of books. The first book in the series of four serves as a prequel to the series. Although "Stranger Things" is not based on a novel or book, it takes inspiration from primarily the works of Steven Spielberg, John Carpenter, and Stephen King, as well as the movie "Jaws", true events during the Cold War and conspiracy theories involving secret government experiments, anime and video games. So, although the series is a fictional account, it has drawn inspiration from both real life events and fictional events. Did you watch the series and did you think it was based on either a book or real life events?

"The Witcher" the Netflix fantasy saga the streaming service has positioned as the next "Game of Thrones", has similar literary roots. The show is based on the fantasy book series of the same name—six novels and two story collections by Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski that develop a rich setting and unforgettable characters that have drawn in millions of readers the world over. Season three of the series has been confirmed, and given that the fantasy book series has six novels and two short story collection, many seasons could be ahead. Did you watch this series and/or read the books?

With the 4th season just streaming now, "Ozark" is filling the void for "Breaking Bad" and "Narcos" fans. "Ozark" is a fictional show created by Bill Dubuque and Mark Williams. The characters, as well as the Navarro Cartel, are all a figment of the creators' imaginations. However, the inspiration behind several things depicted in the show is very real.
