Who remembers these iconic Canadian television shows? For my friends south of the border, do you recognize any of these Canadian TV legends?
1. Mr. Dressup aka Ernie Coombs. His show ran on the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) from 1967 to 1996. He show was similar to Mr. Rogers and he had collaborated with Mr. Rogers on other projects before creating Mr. Dressup. He is a Canadian television icon, born in Lewiston Maine, U.S.A. Have you heard of him? The video clip is from a documentary about him.

2. Look up. Waaay Up. The Friendly Giant aka Bob Homme. This show ran on the CBC from 1958 to 1985. It originated as a radio program in Madison Wisconsin in 1953 then to TV on WHA-TV. Another Canadian TV icon born in the U.S. Bob was born in Stoughton Wisconsin. Heard of this?

3. You Can't Do That on Televion. A Canadian sketch comedy series, most known for the green slime dumped on the actors, that started airing in Canada in 1979 before starting to air in the U.S. in 1981. Produced in an Ottawa CTV station, it became a staple in the early years on Nickelodeon. There were 143 episodes produced. Have you seen this?

4. SCTV i must say. Kind of under appreciate in its time, it ran intermittently between 1976 and 1984. Started in Edmonton Alberta Canada and later filmed in Scarborough Ontario. it aired on CBC and Global TV in Canada and it later started airing on NBC. So many great performers in that cast. Have you seen it?
