I am fascinated by those YouTube clips of a Scottish shepherd with his collie dogs working the sheep in the hills of Scotland. Do the sheep in the front of the flock think they are leaders as the rest follow them through the gate? Are they even aware that the whole flock is being manipulated by one or two working dogs who rely on intimidation (the collie stare) and a very rare nip to the heels to move them in one direction. It doesn't take much. It is highly unlikely this flock of sheep know their movements are actually being controlled by the shepherd far away who only needs to give a whistle to get what he wants. Fashion is a lot like that. How else can we explain some of these fashion trends from not too long ago?

This first question is mainly designed to show you a shepherd and his dogs at work with the sheep. The dogs work hard but not as hard as they would have to if not for the fact that an individual sheep likes to do what the rest do. The dogs only have to control a few sheep in order to control all of them. Have you ever bought something mainly because a friend or friends bought (or recommended) it?

If we did not have (no offence intended) a sheep-like quality when it comes to fashion I don't think this fashion trend would have become so popular in the 1980s. This was not the first or last time this fashion trend would appear. Men also adopted these wide shoulders in clothing. Did you?

I am proud to say I didn't wreck a perfectly good jacket or coat by rolling up the sleeves. It didn't make sense then and it doesn't now. Yet this became part of "the look" in the late 70's and into the 80's - and then was gone. Were you ever into this look?

In the 1970s into the 1980s, many men wanted to look (and walk) like this guy. Many women wanted to look like this equivalent. If you saw someone with this look today would you still like it?
