Britain's oldest living twins, 103 year old Phyllis Jones and Irene Crump attribute their longevity, and the fact that they are both in good health to one thing in particular -- liquor, and specifically, gin. Both enjoy several a day, and have since they were legal drinking age. Well, add eating healthy and exercise, but the sisters say it is the gin that is the secret to their health. Do you enjoy drinking gin?

Gin was first used in Holland in the 17th century as an anti-inflammatory. Then the Dutch worked on it to be more pleasant on the palate. Eventually, it hit the cocktail lists where it has sat ever since. In 2009, the gin market changed. Craft distilleries offering unique blends started popping up, and gin has steadily gained in popularity since then. And it just doesn't taste good -- gin offers some surprising health benefits, and is ranked as the third most healthy hard liquor (after tequila/mezcal and brandy). Which of these health benefits were you aware of?

Of course, anything done to excess is not good for you, and drinking alcohol must always be done responsibly. Just like anything if the risks outweigh the benefits, then drinking gin (or any liquor) should not happen. There are many reasons why someone may abstain from drinking liquor, and since it is a personal choice, no one should question why you don't drink. Do you drink (specifically refers to liquor) or do you abstain for a reason?
