Food & Drink
Was at my fave bar and grill hangout the other day and got wondering about some of the appetizers on the menu. How the heck were they invented, and who involved?

Fried cheese sticks - cheese is the last thing I'd think of coating in bread crumbs and frying. Wisconsin's Frank Baker is credited with deep-frying pieces of mozzarella in the 70's, though the concept goes back to medieval France. The trick is it's frozen to withstand the frying. Do you have a fave type of cheese? Let us know in replies.

Fried pickles - like cheese, not the sort of food I'd think to dip in batter and fry. These are typically dill wedges, though have encountered slices. Bernell Austin created these in 1960 at his Arkansas drive-in using fish batter. Do you prefer dill or sweet pickles?

Sliders - mini burgers. White Castle of Kansas is credited for making these popular in the 1920's. Idea being quick to make and get hot to the customer, easy to carry and eat at about 2 inches square. Have seen a couple shows listing White Castle as the first fast food place as well. These are available frozen. Ever buy foods at a grocer that are restaurant based?
