This series shares the backstories (many of which are unsettling) of how some stars acquired scars. I find the adaptability and perseverance of these survivors inspiring.

I first saw British actress Amanda Redman playing skilled and devoted Dr Fonseca on "The Good Karma Hospital" set in India (but filmed in Sri Lanka). When I researched the source of the scars on her arm, I learned that as a toddler she was burned over 80% of her body and face when a boiling saucepan of soup spilled on her. She spent over 3 years in the hospital. Her experience inspired her to become an active Patron for the Children Burns Trust for over 20 years. Have you ever been burned?

Redman has a successful career, and has stated, "My scars have never been a hindrance, as my parents brought me up to be proud of everything about myself and never hide them away". Do you think they did a great job of instilling a positive attitude in their daughter?
