Per Dictionary.com, a sphincter is "a ring of muscle surrounding the opening of a hollow organ or body and contracting to close it." Further, from Cleveland Clinic's website, they are " tiny bands of muscles that control the flow of substances throughout your body.... circular-shaped muscles that open and close to control the flow of food, air, bile, pee and poop through your body. When a sphincter is relaxed, a substance can easily flow through it. But when it's contracted or tightened, nothing can flow through it because it's closed. Your sphincters play an important role in many bodily processes..." Were you previously aware of what sphincters are?

Per Wikipedia's entry on sphincters, the human body possesses over 60 types of them (here's a partial list: https://www.verywellhealth.com/what-is-a-sphincter-1945068). Some you may know by name, others you may not, but are there any that specifically come to mind when you hear the word "sphincter"?
Yes (and I may name at least one in a comment)

As for the dream referenced in the introduction, in it I was watching a TV ad for a product named Sphincter (though it could have been in a stylized spelling, like Sfnktr; who knows?!), and it ended in the slogan, "I've been Sphinctered!" I have no idea as to what what a product--or service--with that name would do or what situation it would address, but do you think Sphinctering and/or being Sphinctered would be a good thing? Yes
