Dr. Weston A. Price was a dentist who traveled the world at the end of his career in the 1930s to search for the causes of tooth decay and physical degeneration (such as crooked teeth). Dr. Price has been called the "Isaac Newton of Nutrition". Have you ever heard of Dr. Price?

As he traveled, his findings led him to believe that cavities and deformed dental arches resulting in crowded, crooked teeth were a sign of physical degeneration resulting from nutritional deficiencies. The isolated groups of people he studied, all over the world, had beautifully straight teeth, no dental decay, stalwart bodies and resistance to disease. When Dr. Price analyzed the foods these people were eating, he found they provided at least four times the calcium and minerals, and at least ten times the fat soluble vitamins (found in animal foods such as eggs, butter, fish eggs and organ meats) than the modernized diets of the time. The primitive cultures Dr. Price studied understood the importance of good nutrition for parents, to ensure they had healthy children. Many of these groups required a period of premarital nutrition for both the mother and father, and child spacing, to permit the mother to maintain her full health and strength. Special foods were often given to pregnant and lactating women, as well as maturing boys and girls in preparation for future parenthood. Dr. Price found these foods to be high in fat soluble A and D. Dr. Price's research took place during a time when industrialized food was just starting to reach primitive societies. Due to this, he was able to compare the health of families who were still eating their traditional foods, to the health of those who had started eating modernized food. He was even able to compare the changes these modernized foods made to the health of siblings who had been born before and after these modernized foods had been adopted by their families.
