If your right hand rises first and farthest you're breathing from your chest, causing a shallow breath that doesn't utilize your full lung capacity. When you breathe with your chest you're only utilizing a small portion of your lung capacity. This is a much less efficient use of oxygen and can cause an oxygen debt. When the diaphragm is utilized, it allows for added capacity of oxygen. Also, the lower portion of the lungs is said to be more efficient at delivering oxygen. Breathing into your abdomen allows for optimal use of lung capacity as intended by nature. Did you already know this information?
